Clemson gets another road victory at V. Tech

Clemson continued its hot play of late winning another close game against the Hokies of Virginia Tech. The win for the Tigers gives them 6 ACC victories on the year, a feat that hadn't been accomplished since the 1997-1998 season. For Clemson they move to 17-11 (6-9) while V Tech drops to 14-14 (4-11).

Clemson came into the game on a hot streak winning 2 of their last 3 including big wins over Maryland by 12 and Virginia by 26, they lost a heartbreaking in OT against Wake Forest. They continued their great play against Virginia Tech, whom beat the Tigers less than 4 weeks ago by 1 point. Clemson lead for the entire first half taking a 37-35 lead at the break. The Hokies held the game close and used a late run to take a 79-72 lead with 3:50 to play. But Clemson's defense held strong holding them to only two points as Clemson closed the game on a 14-2 run for the final score of 86-81.

The Tigers were led by Senior Akin Akingbala as he posted his forth double-double in last 7 games, he had 21 points and 16 rebounds. Cliff Hammonds added 18 while Shawan Robinson chipped in 17.

Next game for Clemson is saturday when they host Georgia Tech 11-11, 4-11. In their previous game this year the Tigers won 73-63. Georgia Tech is coming off a big win over Wake Forest 76-61. This will be the last game for each team as the ACC tournament begins next Thursday.
